After-Lite Strips - During Day

It was almost 2 years ago that I last reviewed an After-Lite product. Well, Tim LeMaster and his team have been working on all kinds of products since then. One of their latest creations is some self-adhesive strips that glow in the dark. The After-Lite Strips are an alternative to using electricity for providing a light source, perfect for areas where safety is important.

These After-Lite Strips have been designed for sticking next to fluorescent strip lighting. When you switch off the light, the strips just glow in the dark, giving you a free source of light for several hours. Manufactured by Fotolum, the strips feature high-grade photo luminescent crystals that are blended under intense heat and pressure, and then molded into self-adhesive strips. The adhesive itself is manufactured by 3M, the company you typically associate with adhesives and sticky tape.

After-Lite Strips - At Night

I was sent the strips to review, and I’ve been playing with them for a couple of weeks. A photo of them glowing in the dark is above, and the photo doesn’t do it justice!

When the After-Lite Strips charge up under a light or sunlight, they do glow for hours. I don’t have any fluorescent strip lighting in my home, but I do have doors! So I’ve been sticking them on the edge of doors, which is perfect when you’re half-asleep and you need the loo at night!

The After-Lite strips measure 0.5 inches x 12 inches (12.5mm x 300mm) and are being offered as a pack of 3 for $16.30.

The products sold by Fotolum are also used on clothing as used by emergency services in the US, so I have a great deal of respect for their products. Thanks to Tim LeMaster for sending me one of his latest creations!
