AltusLumen TRI-L rechargeable and portable light in a new green gadget, a magnesium-based rechargable LED light with a 300 degree hinge and tripod to allow the light to be positioned at any angle. The TRI-L adheres to 5 bold and environmentally sound principles adopted by AltusLumen, including being made from recycled and recyclable material, energy efficient and uses renewable energy.
The TRI-L uses magnesium for the case, which is one of a few materials that can endlessly be recycled without degradation (unlike paper, wood or plastic). Using ultra bright and efficient LEDs, the light runs for several hours on a single charge and can be charged by solar panel with the optional solar charger.
The tripod feature makes the torch particularly useful to use in tight corners, despite not being particularly aesthetically pleasing. With a price tag of $99 (but cheaper on Amazon), it will no doubt put off most buyers, as it’s pretty expensive for what is basically a torch. Aside from that, the concept is a good one, and I applaud the efforts of AltusLumen for trying to do something a little different.
